Dr. Robert Carter

Dr. Robert Carter III is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Lieutenant Colonel (Promotable) in United States Army; and Deputy Consultant for Physiology & Chemistry to the U.S. Army Surgeon General. Dr. Carter is the Army Product Manager for Medical Simulation at the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) Orlando, Florida. Previously, Dr. Carter served as the Director and Principal Research Scientist for Pre-hospital and Tactical Combat Casualty Care at the U.S. Army Institute for Surgical Research, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas; Aide to the President of United States (Obama), White House, Washington, D.C.; Advisor to U.S. Africa Command and Special Operations Command Africa, Stuttgart Germany; Advisor to US Forces Afghanistan, Kandahar; Science Attaché, Le Centre de Recherches du Service de Santé des Armées (CRSSA), Grenoble France; Medical Researcher at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine in Massachusetts. 

As an adjunct professor, Dr. Carter has taught numerous courses in nutrition, human performance, health and human disease, genetics, and bioethics at several universities. Dr. Carter has a Ph.D. in Biophysics and Physiology, Master of Public Health in Chronic Disease Epidemiology, Master’s Degree in Immunology, and completed a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, and selected for the prestigious Yerby Fellowship and received postgraduate training in Harvard School Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Carter serves on several scientific editorial boards and is a scientific reviewer for 14 leading scientific and technical journals. Dr. Carter has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on Soldier performance, combat casualty care, environmental medicine, advanced learning, and human behavior. 

He is a volunteer and Power Breath Workshop facilitator with the International Association for Human Value. In 2019, Dr. Carter and his wife Dr. Kirti Carter co-authored a self-help book, The Morning Mind Use Your Brain to Master Your Day and Supercharge Your Life published by Harper Collins Leadership.
